Biography

James was born[1] and baptised in 1859 in Bishop Wilton, Yorkshire, England,[2] where he lived with his parents, John Banks and Hannah Rispin.[3][4]

In 1884 James married Betsy Elizabeth Aniziline Curtis in Hull, Yorkshire.[5][6] At the time of the 1901 census James lived at the North Eastern Railway Stables on Hessle Road, Hull, where he worked as a horse feeder.[7]

James married Emily Dewsnup in 1905.[8] In 1911 the family lived at the railway stables.[9]
