Biography

Evidence from the National Records of Scotland 1 - [17 September 1651] Part of draft contract of marriage between James Somervell younger of Drum, son of James Somervell elder thereof and Lilias Bannatyne, his spouse, and Martha Bannatyne, daughter of John Bannatyne of Corhouse and Grissell Lockhart, his spouse.

2 - 12 March 1674: Post-nuptial contract of marriage between James Somervaill, eldest son of James Somervaill younger of Drum, and Elizabeth Grahame, eldest daughter of George Grahame, merchant burgess of Edinburgh, by which the said James Somervaill younger of Drum dispones to said James and Elizabeth the lands of Drum, Gilmertoun and Pilrig's Maileing, under reservation of liferent to said James Somervaill younger of Drum and Martha Bannatyne, his spouse, and said George dispones to said James and Elizabeth a tenement in the east end of the Luckenboothes.
