Joseph Barber is on the 1789 tax list of Pittsylvania County, Virginia listed on 4 April next to Elisha Barber. David Barber is found on the list on the 30 April.[2][3]

Joseph is not in the 1790 census but is believed to be one of the adult males living in the household of his father-in-law Charles Goad.[4]

In 1800 the following Barbers are found on the tax list for Pittsylvania County, Virginia: 24 May William Barber 1000; Joseph Barber 1001; Randolph Barber 1001; Hezekiah Barber 1002--18 Mar David Barber 2001; 3 May Barber, Jeremiah 100--

By 1810 Joseph was living in Campbell County, Virginia where his name first appears on the tax list in 1810 with 3 males and continues until 1818.

Joseph remained in Campbell County, Virginia from 1810 to 1830 where he is found on the tax lists (except for the years 1819-1823) and in the census.[5][6]

By 1839 his name is found on the tax list for Greenup County, Kentucky and remains there until 1844 when he probably died. Joseph Barber was in the census for Greenup County, Kentucky in 1840[7] but not in 1850.

Barber-8296 and Barber-119 appear to represent the same person because: same father, same son
posted by David Hughey Ph.D.
Charles, Elisha and Coleman should be sons of Jean Goad [Goad-31]
Becca, I added a bio and some sources for Joseph.
Barber-3584 and Barber-119 appear to represent the same person because: The birth and death are near or the same. Each profile has one of his wives. He was married to both. They were sisters: Jean Goad and Nancy Goad.
There are two profiles for Joseph Barber. One has his wife Nancy Goad and the other one has her sister Jean Goad listed for his wife. Of course, he was married to both of them. We need to do a merge for Barber-3584 and Barber-119. Thanks.
