Biography

Dinah Barber, child of Moses Barber (abt.1652-aft.1728) and Susannah (West) Barber (aft.1671-1758), great granddaughter of Mayflower passenger George Soule, was born 5 Jan 1692/3 in Kingston, Rhode Island.[1][2] Her birth is recorded in the North Kingston Vital Records, but Kingstown didn't divide North and South until 1723. There were no counties in Rhode Island until 1703.

Dinah married Edward Wilcox 14 Jun 1716, in Westerly, Rhode Island.[1][3] Edward, son of Edward and Mary (Hazard) Wilcox, was born about 1693 and definitely before 1698. He died in Charlestown, Rhode Island, between 27 Oct 1774 and 9 Mar 1779 (inventory).[1]

Dinah Wilcox died probably in Charlestown, Rhode Island, between 21 Sept 1755 (father's will) and 27 Oct 1774 (husband's will)[1] Susannah Barber, named among others, her daughter Dinah Wilcocks in her will dated 1755.[4][5]

The will of Edward Wilcox of Charlestown, was dated 27 Oct 1774 and proved 5 April 1779. He named: son Joseph; grandson Edward Wilcox; daughter Lydia Saunders; grandchidren Jeffrey son of Hezekiah Gavitt, Oliver and Vashti Gavitt, [children of Samuel].[1][6]
