Biography

Charles Barber and his wife, Frances Glasscock had the following children:

The son of Thomas Barber (1701-1754) married Anne Nash (1701-1763). He is the father of Katherine Lucy Barber (1740-1810) who married Luke Williams (1738-1810) of Colonial Virginia, Richmond, Wise County, Va.

May 1704 Application for Pay as Captain in Militia

In May 1704, John Tarpley along with Charles Barber and William Barber, all with the rank of Captain, apply to Richmond County, Virginia for militia pay.[2]

Death

Charles Barber died 27 Nov 1726, just 3 days after his son Charles Barber, Jr.[1]

Dona (Floyd) Vance wrote a book on this family in 1972, called the "Williams Family History Book" at the request of her grandfather, Judge Alvin Luke Williams of Ft. Worth, Texas and District Judge of Fairbanks, Alaska and Anchorage, Alaska, 1961-1966, retired back to Ft. Worth, Texas as Judge of Granbury, Texas, Ft. Worth, Texas, he passed away Marchy, 1978. This book is located in libraries in Ft.Worth, Texas, Jasper County, Georgia, Texas State Library, Clayton Library, Houston, Texas, and is in the possession of Dona (Floyd) Kimmons, the author. Dona's mother, Frankie Bess Williams (Floyd) Shelton has served under three Presidents, President Jimmy Carter, 1976, 1977, 1978, and Presidents Ronald Reagan and Vice-President, George H.W. Bush, 1985, 1986, 1989, and decorated the home of President George H.W. Bush and his wife, Barbara Bush at Christmas, 1989.

Me, Dona (Floyd) Kimmons and my daughter, Sheryl (Sanders) Bolton are DNA matched to both Luke Williams and Katherine Lucy Barber. Dona Kimmons is in the Daughters of the American Revolution, under Elijah Cornwall, and DAR records also on Luke Williams, which include birth, death, marriage records. Her North and South Carolina and Virginia ancestors were member of Colonial Dames, Dames of Magna Carta, Americans of Royal Descent, and DAR.

Charles Barber is my 7th great-grandfather and his wife, Frances Glasscock is my 7th great-grandmother.

The son of Thomas Barber (1701-1754) married Anne Nash (1701-1763), my 6th great-grandfather and 6th great-grandmother.
