Thomas E. Barber, 70, of Peoria died Friday at Methodist Medical Center.

Born May 20, 1918 in Peoria to Herbert L. and Minnie (Mitzelfelt) Barber, he married Dolores Davison on May 28, 1950 in DeKalb, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Minnie Carey of Peoria; one son Alvin Kenneth and one daughter Mrs. Emanuel (Sandra) Manias, both of Peoria; seven brothers, Alvin K. and Gordon (Burch) Carey, both of Peoria, Arthur W. and Nyle Carey, both of Bartonville, Gerald Carey of Sacramento, CA, Lyle Carey and Russell Barber of Peoria; one sister Mrs. Melford (Betty) Hogan of Germantown Hills; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father.

He retired as a captain at the Peoria Police Department. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
