John Barber was an English coal viewer and inventor. He patented several inventions between 1766 and 1792, of which the most remarkable was one for a gas turbine.
Although born in Nottinghamshire he moved to Warwickshire and lived there most of his life. He died in 1801 and was buried at St Nicholas in Nuneaton on the 6th November 1801 [1]
