Biography
Gaspare was born about 1804 [1] to Gaetano Barbera and Margarita La Marca [2]. He married Maria Ferraro in 1839 [3] and she died in 1841 at or shortly after the birth of their 2nd child. He married next 26-year-old Elionora Giaccone in 1841 [4] and they had a large family. He was alive as recently as October 1876 and died some time after this date [5].
Per his 1839 marriage record, he was of the middle class.
