Biography

Caterina was born in 1869 to Calogero Barbera, a farmer, and Anna Catanzaro ^[1]. She married Baldassare Gulotta in 1884 when she was 14 ^[2] and died in 1889 at age 19 ^[3].

Research Notes

Caterina's reported age at marriage, 16 in 1884, is at odds with her actual birth date. She had an older deceased sister of the same name who would have been 16 in 1884, and it is likely that this other birth record was brought to the marriage officials. Caterina was 14 at marriage at died at age 19.
