Frederick was born on 4 July 1926 in Massachusetts, the son of William Barbour and Helen Copp. He was the oldest of 3 sons. The family lived in Winthrop before settling in Melrose.[1][2]
He graduated from Melrose High School and served in the US Navy in 1946. He worked as a salesman and as a Melrose firefighter.
His parents moved to California about 1951 and Fred followed. He was a real estate broker.
He met Cornelia Skip Perkins at the "Tall Club" and they married on August 25, 1956, in Los Angeles, California.[3] They had three children. His wife died in 1984.
He died on November 8, 2013, in Hemet, California, at the age of 87, survived by his 3 children.
