Christiana was born in about 1738: her Quaker death and burial record gives her age at death as 58.[1] She was the daughter of David Barclay and his second wife Priscilla Freame.[2]
On 2 September 1755, at Enfield Quaker Meeting, she married Joseph Gurney, son of Joseph of Norwich, deceased, and Hannah. Joseph's occupation is given as merchant in the Quaker marriage record. Her parents are named as David Barclay of Edmonton, Middlesex, and Priscilla. The marriage was recorded by both Tottenham Quaker Monthly Meeting and London and Middlesex Quaker Quarterly Meeting.[2][3]
Joseph Gurney died, age 32, on 7 July at Norwich, Norfolk.[4][5]
On 1 June 1767 Christian married John Freame (her first cousin) in an Anglican ceremony at Great Yarmouth.[6][7]
John Freame died in 1770, with his residence given as Bush Hill, Edmonton in the Quaker death record.[8][9]
On 18 January 1772 she married William Watson, widower, in an Anglican ceremony at St Swithin's, Walcot (near Bath), Somerset: the parish register says they were both living in the parish.[10] He was a physician and scientist and non-Quaker.[11]
Christiana died on 25 December 1796. Her residence is given as Dawlish, Devon in the record of East Devon Quaker monthly Meeting. She was buried at Exeter on 1 January 1797.[1]
