Biography

Andrew Jackson Bare was born on 20 Sept., 1855 in Ovid, Clinton Cty., MI^[1][2].. He was the son of John Bare and Catherine Bare.

He grew up with 10 siblings on a farm in Clinton Cty., MI. Like his father, Andrew became a life long farmer^[3], Andrew Jackson married Louise Christina Hiller on 20 OCT 1878 in Ovid, Clinton, Michigan, USA.^[4] which was witnessed by witnesses: P. Bare and Florence Bare both of Emerson Twp. and the ceremony was performed by: M.H. Sly, Minister of the Gospel. Sometime between his marriage and the 1880 census, Andrew and Christina had moved to Duplain, Clinton Cty. By 3 Aug., 1887, Andrew and family had moved to Emerson, Gratiot County, Michigan, USA^[5]. In 1889, Andrew had 20 acres in South NW NW of SW Section24 Emerson Twp., Gratiot Cty., MI^[6].

On 23 Nov., 1894 Andrew Jackson purchased land in section 27 of Emerson Twp., Gratiot Cty., MI^[7]. In 1901, he owned 40 acres each in Sections 24 & 27, Emerson Twp., Gratiot Cty., MI^[8]. In 1902, Andrew changed his residence to location section 25 of Emerson Twp.^[9]By 1917 Andrew and Louise were living in Ithaca, Gratiot Cty, Michigan ^[10] Rural Route 5, Rd. 83. Andrew and wife continued to live in Ithaca at least until the 1930 census. Andrew died on 15 May, 1936 from arterial sclenosis, chronic endocanlitis. Residence was given as Emerson, Gratiot Cty., MI^[11][12].
