Jacob was born on 23 Nov., 1839 in Delaware, Ohio[1][2]. He was raised on farms owned by his father in Indiana and Michigan. Jacob was always a farmer his whole life as evidenced by census and death records.
Jacob married Jennie Hull Garfield of Michigan on 21 April, 1867 in Genessee Cty., Mi[3][4][5]. They had four children. Sometime between June, 1860 and 1870 Jacob had acquired his own farm.
In 1870 he had 80 acres by 1880 he had more than doubled his acreage to 163 acres. He was quite prosperous as evidence by the 1880 agriculture census, see census below. On 13 Oct., 1882, Jacob and his wife were still living in Ovid Twp., Clinton Cty., MI as evidenced by birth of daughter Zoa Alice on that date[6].
On 2 Dec., 1893, Jacob and wife were guests of A. L. Bare in Henderson, Shiawassee Cty., MI[7].
On 20 Oct., 1905, Jacob and wife were guests of A. Z. Bare in Beebee, Gratiot Cty[8]. Jacob died on 22 Dec., 1928 in Bengal Twp., Clinton Cty., MI[9][10].Burial in Mount Rest Cemetery[11].
