Samuel Kohler Bare was born in York County, the son of Samuel (1811- 1896) & Sarah (Kohler) Bare (1811-1888).
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Manchester Township August 23, 1864, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 27 as a private with Co. D, 200th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 30, 1865.[1]
After the war, he married Sarah Ann Miller and fathered Clarissa Gertrude (b. @1872) and Harry C. (b. @1873); Sarah Ann died in 1875, and he married Mary Ann Diehl, fathering Nettie M.
Cause of death was "arterio sclerosis."
