Owen C was born on 4 Dec., 1782[1], possibly in PA, see 1850 and 1860 census below. However, his father was in Rockingham, VA in 1782 earlier in the year. That being said, I think he was really born in VA. He was the son of Jacob Bear and Barbara Rankin. Owen married Catherine Pierce about 1807 possibly in Augusta Co., Virginia. He was a farmer[2]. Sometime between 1830 and 1850 Owen and his growing family moved from Clark Co., IN, where they had lived from sometime before 1820, to Jefferson Co., IL by 1850[3].
He passed away on 5 June, 1865[4]. He is buried in Mount Catherine Christian Cemetery, Woodlawn, Jefferson Co., IL with his wife Catherine[5].

Research Notes
Owen Christian Bare was born on 4 Dec., 1782. However his birthplace is not absolutely certain. Some sources state that it was in Rockingham, VA; others Pennsylvania. More specifically in Philadelphia, PA. Some have said he also married Margaret Cummings in Indiana. This is incorrect. Margaret Cummings married Owen Bare, son of Owen Christian Bare. Please refer to their death dates and place.
