The biography for Kathi-lynn Bareis. My maternal lineage of American families is of English Pilgrims from the 17th century. My paternal lineage of American families is of German Descent from the 19th century.
I began tracing our family lineage in 1972 by verbally interviewing my elders. This research would not be where it is today without the help of the verbal history by my maternal grandmother Margaret [LONG] Conant and Louella [BURCKHARTT] Campbell, the maternal grandmother of my husband.
Margaret, my maternal grandmother, loved to share stories of her childhood in Maine and of those explorers within our family who settled the Massachusetts Bay Colony. My grandmother and I spent countless hours over an 11 year period in the Genealogical Section at the downtown branch of the Dallas Public Library (DPL) in Dallas Texas. My grandmother often accompanied me to this library and shared her marvelous stories with Genealogist that were there researching and kindly teaching me. In thar library, from 1985 to 1996, I searched through miles and miles of microfiche film until viable internet access was available.
In 1995-96, I contributed my first family history GED files, to Broderbund, via 5.25" floppy disks. Today, those GED files of my earliest research can be found on the World Family Tree Volume 1 - Tree #3395, and the World Family Tree Volume 17 - Tree #273. The sourcing of this material came from verbal first-hand stories, and from the DPL genealogy books and microfiche. Notably my sourcing skills were not fully acquired. I did the best to my knowledge at that time and I am still learning.
After years of recording my ancestry data by hand, I began using the "Family Tree Maker" software published by Brøderbund Software, on 9 January 2001, and I eventually joined the Ancestry.com online platform. With advanced family history experience I still need to understand how to properly cite sources. This is why I've joined the WikiTree family, where citing sources is not overlooked. Thank you for your patience with my mistakes.
My interests continue to expand, as does our family lineage.
As of this entry, my Ancestry.com GED file contains: 7,141 people, 6,429 records, and 2,168 media files. Properly citing my sources and sensitive content is yet to be fully verified, for that reason alone my file remains private but searchable.
Thanks self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.
It looks like the Germany, Palatine Migration and the Mayflower Projects would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members, and please cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage or edit, and have a look at our Sources page

Thanks for adding new profiles on WikiTree! Please note that ALL CAPS should not be used in data fields. If you could go back and change the LNABs on the profiles you recently created, it would be appreciated. See: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Name_Fields#Capitalization
Thanks! Traci
Thank you for adding a GEDCOM. The GEDCOM does not automatically populate your tree it generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through either accepting or rejecting suggested matches, once that has been done, you add any remaining names manually.
The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.
