Biography

When George M Barger and his twin brother John C Barger were born on March 28, 1809, in Rowan, North Carolina, their father, Henry, was 22, and their mother, Mary, was 18. George married Louisa Eliza Brigance on March 27, 1828, in Henderson, Tennessee. They had four children during their marriage, a daughter and three sons who would serve together in the 34th Mississippi Infantry CSA during the Civil War. George died as a young father in 1834 in Henderson County, Tennessee, at the age of 25.

The specific date and place of George M. Barger's death are not known for certain, The Battle of Parker's Crossroads was fought on his and his father's land. It is possible that graves were disturbed there and any monuments have been lost.
