Biography

"Elk Rapids Resident Dies in Detroit ELK RAPIDS - Mrs. Lottie Beckhart, 84, of Elk Rapids died Wednesday at a nursing home in Detroit. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dockery-Wilhelm funeral chapel. Elk Rapids, Rev. James Lymun officiating, with burial in Elk Rapids Maple Grove cemetery. The former Lottie Bargy was born March 13, 1886, at Torch Lake village and lived most of her life in the Elk Rapids area. On September 3, 1907 she was married to Clare Beckhart of Gaylord. who preceded her in death. A brother and a sister also preceded her in death. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Theodore (Joyce) Sampson of Dearborn: a granddaughter; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Smith of Bellaire and Mrs. Rena Hanel of Elk Rapids; and a brother, Lloyd Bargy of the Torch Lake area."
