Lines on the death of Willie Barham who died at Worragee, April 20th, 1897.[5]
The Angel of Death has come and gone,
And one poor mother is weeping,
Thinking of her youngest son,
Now safe in his Father's keeping.
Struck down in the midst of childish life ;
They little thought he'd gone to rest,
Safe from terrestrial cares and strife,
God will it—He of all knows best.
I hear the sound of voices,
O, say what may they be ;
Hark ! ’Tis the voice of angels,
’Way on the celestial sea.
I hear the sound of voices ;
Hark ! How the angels sing,
Another soul is gathered
To the glory of the King.
N.M.
Worragee April 22, 1897.
