Biography

James Arthur 26 Sept 1875, bap 3 Nov 1875 at Stepney. Arthur was an assistant school master in 1901 living with his parents in Hackney. James married Harriet Lilian Patten in 1901 at Brighton. In 1911 Arthur 35 was a school master living in North Hackney with his wife of ten years Harriet Lilian 35 and their only child Gladys Mary 2 born at Clapton. James Arthur Barker of 36 Clifden road Twickenham, head master, 54 sailed to Marseilles, in July 1930. His second wife was Mabel Dorothy Lodder, who he married on 30 May 1936 at Kew, when she was a schoolmistress aged 45, daughter of James Bertie Lodder retired station master. They had a daughter. In 1939 James born 26 Sept 1875 was a retired head master, living in Twickenhamwith Mabel D born 14 Nov 1890, former schoolmistress, James B Lodder born 6 March 1859 and Elizabeth S Lodder born 22 March 1864. Arthur was a house master at a University in London, and died aged 91 on 6 July 1968. Issue: Gladys Mary 1909. Gladys Mary of 36 Clifden Road Twickenham married Alexander Edgar Haller Griffits 25 engineer on 12 Jan 1935 at Twickenham. and Marjorie who married Fraser. She was a teacher at a girls school in Paris and had a daughter Mary.
