Research Notes

April 2021 - Barnabas is connected to the wrong parents. John Barker and his siblings and children were never documented in Massachusetts Bay. Also John Barker's will does not name a child named Barnabas. The linked parents need to be removed. Agreed - done That John was from a Virginia family. Barnabas' father seems to be John (Barker-30) son of 'John of Duxbury'.

The wills of Barnabas and his father are included in full in the " Barker Genealogy".

John's will refers to "my loving son Barnabus Barker"
Barnabas' will[7] refers to
"my son Bamabus Barker"
"my daughters Lidia & Mary"
"my sons Thomas, John and David Barker"
"my son Joshua Barker"
"my daughter(s) Sarah Neal Hannah Briggs and Desire Bell"
"my daughter Lucy Barker"
" my daughter Content Barker"
"my daughter Barsheba Barker"
"my daughter Ziphorah Barker" [8]

I had marked Barnanas' parents uncertain (until I found the wills) because except for the 'Barker Genealogy' and online trees based on it I couldn't find him as their son based on the following:

Savage lists " John, b. 4 May 1678 ; Desire, 22 Sept. 1680; Ann, 26 Aug. 1682, d. soon; Ann, again, 1 Nov. 1683."[9] NEH&GR has the same list,[10] and following the sketch of John of Duxbury the 'History of Scituate' states "There was another family of this name in Scituate distinct from the above, viz. Barnabas Barker, who married Hannah Turner in 1719."[11]The Greene Family Genealogy states he was the "son of John and Ann Williams Barker of Scituate, Mass"[12] They were the parents of 'John of Duxbury' and both died before 1660.

According to her WT profile Barnabas Barker was Mary (Green) Barker (1710-1752)'s second husband:

"Mayflower Births and Deaths, Vol. 2, page 447 lists John Neal as 1st spouse of Mary Green who had 3 children: John bpt 1731, John bpt 1732 and Ichabod bpt 1734. Her 2nd spouse was Barnabas Barker and they had 8 children. https://www.ancestry.com/interactive/3718/mayflowerbdii-002476.444/58531?backurl=https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/155005025/person/212093226214/facts/citation/722126271746/edit/record"

Barker-6391 and Barker-4145 appear to represent the same person because: the Barnabas Barker who died in 1763 was the son of John b c 1650 and the husband of Hannah Turner and Mary Green; each of these profiles contain half his story.
