Grove Barker was born to Thomas Barker and Silence Barber on February 16, 1767 in Springfield, Hampden County, Province of Massachusetts Bay.[1]
"GROVE BARKER was born in Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts 16 February 1767; died near Clinton, Lenawee Co. c. 1839-1840; married in West Springfield 13 April 1788 PERSIS MILLER, born in Massachusetts daughter of Stephen and Margaret (--?--) Miller 22 April 1770 and died near Manchester, Washtenaw County, Michigan 20 November 1857. Grove Barker came to Washtenaw County about 1831." (Detroit Society for Genealogical Research Magazine, 1969).
Son of Thomas Barker and Silence Barber of Springfield, MA. Early settler in Lewis and Genessee/Livingston counties in New York, and in Washtenaw county, Michigan.

In April, 1833, Grove Barker served as moderator of the first township meeting of the town of "Hixon", which in 1836 reorganized itself as the town of Manchester (Washtenaw Co., MI). He was not listed in the 1840 census, so his death is likely between 1834-1839.
