Biography
Hugh Barkley Jr was born on January 13, 1811, in Peters, Pennsylvania, his father, Hugh Barkley and his mother, Elizabeth Kirkpatrick. He married Sarah Jane Murphy in January 1834 in Chongqing, Chongqing, China. He died on July 28, 1878 and was buried in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa.
