Biography

Henry was born in 1889. He was the son of George and Mary Barling.

He married Cordelia Sandry in 1912

He enlisted in the army at Geelong, Vic 9th June 1916, where his reported age was 28 years old.
Henry Barling is an Anzac who served in World War One.

Private Barling departed Melbourne on board HMAT A73 Commonwealth on the 19th September 1916 with the 2nd Cyclist Battalion (4th Reinforcements)

On the 21st Jan 1917 Henry was transferred to the 5th Battalion and on the 29th Jun 1918, he was appointed the rank Lance Corporal.
Roll of Honor
Lance Corporal Henry Barling was Killed in Action during World War I.

He was killed in action 1918.

There are memorial plagues at Australian War Memorial Canberra: Location: Commemorative Area, Panel 42.

He is also listed on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial in France
