Biography

John Barlow, probably son of George, had, by his wife Elizabeth who died May 10, 1729, Sarah Oct. 15, 1693; Keturah May 29, 1698; Samuel Feb. 14, 1700/1; John Oct 30, 1706; Nathan Oct. 30, 1710, and William Ap. 14, 1713.^[1]

He married secondly to Abigail (Lumbert) Hamblin, widow of Israel Hamblin. Israel's estate was inventoried on 2 July 1729 after his death, and it was sworn to by Abigail Hamblin now Barlow administratrix to the estate of her late husband Israel Hamblen.^[2]

Abigail's marriage to John Barlow, noted in Israel's inventory, was recorded in both Barnstable and Sandwich, with intentions also published in Barnstable on 2 August 1730^[3]:

"John Barlow of Sandwich & Abigail Hamblen of Barnstable [married] By Rev Joseph Green Aug 27th 1730."^[4]

Abigail's death was recorded in the Barnstable Church records as, "1740, April 25, Abigail Barlow (formerly Hamblin) departed this life, very aged,"^[5] although she may have been residing in Sandwich with her husband.
