Biography

Martie was born in 1911.She was the daughter of Herbert Henry Barlow and Mary Ellen (Splain) Barlow).

She married Andrew Marion Lisowski in 1948. Martie and Andrew had one child.

She passed away in 1988.

Editor's Note: With the recent death of Martie Barlow Lisowski, the Today's Family page and its editor will miss the regular visits of a charming and gracious lady who for many years always brought her club press releases on time, typed and double spaced. She did them well. She also brought gentle warms and a friendly greeting much appreciated on hectic days.

Mrs. Lisowski was born in Bas Obispo, Canal Zone, Panama and celebrated her 77th birthday on July 5. She had been a resident of California for 63 years. She worked as a university librarian for 40 [26] years at Cal Poly Pomona. She was a past president (1983-85) of the Women's Twentieth Century Club of Eagle Rock which she joined with her sister, also a past president (1981-83) in 1976. Mrs. Lisowski was also publicity chairman for several years writing up events and activities of of the Twentieth Century Club, a task she relinquished earlier this year to Virginia Haynes. Another local club, the Eagle Rock Chapter 313, Order of the Eastern Star (currently known as the Glassell Park-Eagle Rock Chapter) benefitted from her active participation. She was worthy matron (1987) of the Eagle Rock Chapter. Her sister was associate matron the same year. Mrs. Lisowski also handled publicity, yearbook and was newsletter editor for her Chapter for several years. She is survived by a Son, Andrew H. Lisowski; sister Eleanor V. Barlow; and mother-in-law [i.e. daughter-in-law) Susan D. Lisowski. Mrs. Lisowski died July 11 in Pasadena. Services were held July 18 at the Church of the Recessional, Forest Lawn Glendale and burial was at Forest Lawn.
