Biography

Thomas was born about 1861. He was the son of Joseph Barlow and Nancy Hewitt.

Thomas married Mary Emma (Woodward) Barlow in 1888. Thomas and Mary had two children.

He passed away in 1895 and was interred at St. Peter's Churchyard, Heswall.

Barlow Thomas of 22 Market-street Birkenhead died 14 October 1895 at the fever hospital Tollemache-street Birkenhead.

BARLOW-Oct. 14, in his 35th year, Thomas, beloved husband of Mary Barlow, late of the Globe Hotel, Market-street, Birkenhead. Will be interred at Heswall Churchyard to-morrow (Wednesday). at three p.m. Cortege leaves Globe Tavern 1 30 p.m. Members of Masonic Lodge No. 477, please accept this information.

FUNERAL AT HESWALL. The remains of the late Mr. Thomas Barlow, of the Globe Hotel, Market-street, who was well known and much respected by his fellow tradesmen and others, were interred at Heswall Church on Wednesday last in the presence of a large gathering of relatives, friends, and members of the Masonic fraternity, who met to pay the last tribute of respect to his memory. The deceased was an active member of the Mersey Lodge No. 477, and took deep interest in its welfare. The masonic brethren represented by Brothers A. Morehouse, P.M., 477; A. Saunders, S.W. 477; C. R. Stevens, 477; J. Richards, 471; J. H. Rogers, 477; A. Lowe, J.W. 2482 and 477 ; T. J. Overington, 4T7 ; H. Flint 605; T. J. Fisher, W.M. 203, LIM ; J. Higgins, MS; !J. W. Shaw, P.M. 1576. Owing to indisposition the Worshipful Master of the Lodge, brother R. Smith, was unavoidably absent. Among others present were Messrs. W. Montgomery, H. Blunt, T. L. Lovelady, F. Masters, R. Patterson, J. Bromley, J. Parry, J. McGowan, J. Robbins, J. Birch, T. R. Newbold, and others. The chief mourners were Barlow (widow), Master Ernest and Miss Barlow (children), Mr. Joseph Woodward (father-in-law) Mr. and Mrs. Barlow (uncle and aunt), A. Barlow (niece), Mr. Thomas Barlow (cousin), Mr. J. Woodward (brother-in-law.) The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. T. H. May, M.A. Rector of Wreaths were by Mrs. Barlow and Brothers Barlow, Mrs. Lambert, Mrs. Birch. 30. and Mts. Harris, The coffin was of oak with heavy brass mountings and the shield bore the inscription ;.—"Thomas Barlow, died October 140. 1895, aged 34 years." The funeral arrangements were admirably carried out by Messrs. Higgins and Smith, Chester-street.
