Samuel married Mary Ann Much (1817 - 1875) on March 2, 1840 by banns at St Bridget's Church in West Kirby, Cheshire[2]. At that time he was liviing at Grange (near West Kirby) and was a labourer. He signed the marriage record with an X.
At the time of the 1841 census Samuel and Mary were living at Frankby[3].
