Lucinda Barnard was born 17 March 1767, the eldest of nine children born to Benjamin Barnard and Eunice Fitch. Eunice Fitch descended from John Howland of the Mayflower.

Lucinda married Barachiah Macy 20 March 1783, New Garden, Guilford, North Carolina. To this union were born:
