Biography

The daughter of Richard Barnes and Elizabeth (Thompson) Barnes, Sarah Barnes was born in Marion County, Tennessee in 1838,[citation needed] residing there with her family.[1]

She married Martin Carmack, marrying on March 5, 1858.[2][3] having six known children together:

  1. Mary E. Carmack (1859-1917)
  2. Nancy Carmack (1862-1945)
  3. Isaac Carmack (1862-1949)
  4. Adeline Carmack (1864-1943)
  5. Amanda C Carmack (1866-1945)
  6. Sarah Ann Carmack (1869-)

Sally and Martin took up residence in Claiborne County, where Martin Carmack worked for a time as a farm laborer on his father's farm.[4] They established their own household by 1870<[5][6]

Sarah Carmack is believed to have passed away in 1871, not long after the death of her last child; no death or burial records are found.
