Biography

James Barnes was born in 1802. He was the son of James Barnes Sr and Mary Hill. He passed away in 1884. He was married to Susan Miskell.

James and Susan were the adoptive parents of Alice M Kountz Bowlin. She is found living with them in the 1880 Census in Atchison, Missouri. Old family photographs of James and Susan note them as being called "Father Barnes" and "Mother Barnes." This is most likely what Alice referred to them as.
