Biography

jane Barnes is said to have been born 11 Jul 1666 in Piscataway, NJ. ^[1] (source needed.) She has also been said to have been born in 1664.^[2]

Jane married widower, William Sutton in Piscataway, New Jersey on 3 Jan 1683/84 ^{[3] [4] [5]} (Different years have been transcribed for the entries for Jane and for William. This is most likely the result of the confusion about the Quaker Calendar. Jan & Feb months were often written with both years, since the Quaker Calendar did not start until March. So to non-Quakers, Jan. would be in the new year and to Quakers, in the old one.)

Research Notes

• The birthdate of 11 Jul 1666 is listed on the FindAGrave site, ^[1] but I have not seen any reliable source for that. It is an odd coincidence that 11 Jul 1666 was the date that William Sutton married his first wife, Damaris Bishop in Eastham, MA.

• Similarly, the death date/place of 11 Sep 1693 in Piscataway appears unsourced. On another user-generated geneaology online, the source is listed as FIndAGrave, however, the current memorial on FindAGrave shows date of death and place of burial unknown.
