Bedford was born in 1812. He was the son of Ezra Barnes and Esther Ward. He passed away in 1892. [1]
On Thursday last, Bedford Boutenhouse BARNES, one of the oldest residents of Sackville, passed away at the age of 80 years. For some times previous to his death Mr. Barnes had been prostrated with la grippe which at last terminated in inflammation of the lungs. The deceased was born at Upper Sackville March 11th, 1812 and had lived to see many marvellous changed take place in Sackville. On Oct. 19th, 1837, he married Mary Ann CHASE, Cornwallis, who died Nov. 24th last, only a few months previous to her husband. Of a family of six, four survive. Mrs. William OGDEN and Miss BARNES, Sackville and Haliburton BARNES and Payson BARNES now in Mexico. One son, Thomas C. BARNES was drowned in Summerside harbor, P.E.I. some years ago. Mr. Barnes was for fifty years a member of the Baptist church. The funeral took place on Sunday. [2]
