Stephen was born about 1755 in Rye, Westchester, New York Colony (estimate based on age at death).[1] He was the son of Samuel Barnes and Sarah (Dean) Barnes.[2]
He married Hannah Carpenter, daughter of Isaac and Martha Carpenter (deceased), on 20d 12m 1780 [20 Dec 1780] in Harrison, Westchester, New York.[2]
He died on 7d 5m 1812 [7 May 1812], age 57 years.[1] He was buried in Purchase Friends Meeting Cemetery.[3]
