Research Notes
I think there is some confusion re: Jesse's wives and children. Jesse apparently married twice; once to Mary 'Polly' Dew, who was the mother of his first three children - John b 1792, Nancy b 1793, and Thomas b 1794. Mary Dew passed away, possibly in 1794 (William's FindAGrave gravesite, cited above, lists Mary Dew as passing away in 1849; that doesn't seem correct if Mary Dew is the mother of only the first three children). Jesse then married Mary Edith Jordan, who would then be the mother of Jesse's other children; Dempsey b 1798, Jesse Jr b 1800, Delphia b 1802, Wealtha b 1804, Edith b 1806, Elias b 1809, William b 1811, Joshua b 1813, Rebeckah b 1815, and Margaret b 1818. That would mean Mary Edith Jordan's death occured in 1849 (William's Find a Grave memorial says his mother survived Jesse).
Names of Jesse's and possibly Mary Dew's or Mary Jordan's children are from White, Ernestine Dew. DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jesse by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jesse:
