Note there is no tombstone for this Find A Grave source which also, as does this profile list her birthplace as Stokes County, NC. and her parent as Jame Barnes "Handsome Jim" Barnes-1444 and Sarah Carter. There are no documents that support that they are her parent or that they ever resided in Stokes. Preliminary research indicates parentage is correct, place of birth is not. James can be found as the signer of a petition to create Burke, NC in 1771 and appears on the Wilkes, NC Census of 1790./

This profile was created in 2016 under questionable circumstances and it was shown to be the daughter of Barnes-1147 and Carter-2669. I questioned this but had no proof and did nothing but adopted it when it was abandoned in an attempt to resolve the issue. The former President of the NC State Sons of the American Revolution, Randy Steele contends that he is the great-grandson of Elizabeth Victoria Barnes Steele wife of Benjamin Franklin Steele from Alexander County. He further states that Elizabeth Victoria is the daughter of Barnes-1147 and Carter-2669. I consider it highly unlikely that parents would give two children the same given names. Knowing how this profile was created, I am unlinking it from the parents mentioned above. The marriage record on the profile between Elizabeth Barnes and Michael Swaim has been verified as correct. Many Swaim's and descendants of Brinsley (Barnes-1145) migrate to Parke County, Indiana and it is probable that Elizabeth is a descendant, but there is no evidence to support the above-referenced parents. Collaboration is encouraged. I will maintain this profile on my Watchlist with a low priority and give up management to anyone wanting to provide sources.
