She was born about 1699 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.
Ann(a) Barnett married John Gemmill.
Because their oldest child John was a "natural son", conceived out of wedlock, his parents were forced to leave Kilmaurs and journey to Irvine to escape "reproof" for their conduct. [1] Their next child William was born in Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland. [1]
They were tenant farmers of Thorniehill, Kilmaures, Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland. [1]
After several years, John and Anna returned to Kilmaurs where they continued raising their family. [1]
He died about 1738 in Fenwick, Parish Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.
