Biography

Martha Jane Barnett was born on September 14, 1854, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, to David Barnett and Nancy Hayes.[1] Very little is known of her early life besides her father having been killed during the Civil War by Captain Bill Strong at their home in Troublesome Creek.[2] Furthermore no photograph of her is known to have survived.[3]

Martha married Jeremiah Combs on August 4, 1882, in Breathitt County, Kentucky,[4] and together they had twelve children:[5][6][7]

It's unknown exactly when Martha passed away, but it was likely sometime after the 1930 US Census since she doesn't appear in any records thereafter.[7]
