Biography

Lockey 'Arminda' Barnett was born in 1859, in Collin County, Texas where she is found with her parents in the United States 1860 Census as Arminda Barnett. By 1870 she is in the household with her mother and J. A. Duncan, listed as a Duncan child.
The United States 1880 Census shows Arminda with two children and her first husband Charles Horn Watson. Living next door is her mother, the widowed Elizabeth E. Duncan and some of her half siblings. The 1884 birth certificate of her daughter Ola, lists their residence as Indian Gap, Collin Co., Texas. The birth is listed as legitimate and Ola as child number four born to Arminda.
By 1900, she is found in Howard Co., Texas with her children from her Watson marriage, however, she is using the last name of Miller. In 1910, she is in Amarillo, Texas with Rolth Sublett and in 1918, Rolth Sublets WWI draft registration cites them as living in Lowell, Cochise Co., Arizona with Rolth working at the Copper Queen mine for Phelps Dodge. Lowell, Arizona was incorporated into Bisbee in the early 1900s.
While Lockey 'Arminda' is listed as being born in Texas, at some point the Duncan's moved to Arkansas and then returned to Texas. She is also found to be attributed a variety names, and spellings of those names. Such as Arminda, Adline, Amanda, Armendy, Lockey, Locky, and Lackey. Her age also varies. Her death certificate identifies William Barnett as her father, which would be consistent with the 1860 census, and cause of death is listed as apoplexy.
