Jonathan Barney married Abial Coffin in 1781 (1 day 3rd month) [1]

He died 6 May 1811.[2][3]

John Hodson
The original version of this profile had the date of death as 1811. The changes tab indicates that the date was changed based on a Find a Grave memorial. However, the Find a Grave memorial provides no sources while the 1811 date is supported by multiple sources, including Barney Genealogical Record and Vital Records of Nantucket (both now linked from this profile). I haven't been able to find any records to support the DOD from Find a Grave.

If the 1811 DOD is correct, of course that also means that this Jonathan Barney is not the one who married Anna Bullock in 1819. There were (at least) two people named Jonathan Barney born in Massachusetts in 1756 and it seems they may have been confused.

UPDATE 11 Jul 2023: added profile for the other Jonathan Barney and linked Anna Bullock to the new one, removing this one. Also revised the DOD to match sources. Submitted suggestion on Find a Grave to revise its information as well.

UPDATE 12 Jul 2023: Find a Grave has accepted 1811 as the date of death
