When Oliver Oscar Barney was born on March 22, 1875, in Silver Lake, Kansas, his father, Joseph, was 37 and his mother, Mariah, was 30. He married Laura Lillian Unterkircher on August 12, 1895. They had two children during their marriage. He died on March 3, 1931, in his hometown at the age of 55.
