Simon P. Barnhart was born October 1, 1838, in Dearborn county, Indiana, a son of Philip/Phillip Barnhart and Silvia (Calkins) Barnhart. Simon married Catherine Ann Sipes, daughter of Henry Sipes, Jr. and Delilah (David) Sipes. Simon died June 30, 1898, in Bartholomew county, Indiana and is buried in the Mount Pleasant cemetery, in Garden City. [1]
