Biography

Nova (Barnhill) Waller died from complications of childbirth.

Nova was born in 1886. She was the daughter of Lafayette Barnhill and Letha Knight. She passed away in 1907.

When Nova L Barnhill was born on September 1, 1886, in Texas, her father, Lafayette, was 25, and her mother, Letha, was 21. She married Ira Other Waller on June 10, 1906, in Choctaw, Oklahoma. She died on August 4, 1907, in Melrose, New Mexico, at the age of 20, and was buried there.

Nova Barnhill died in childbirth near Melrose NM. Nova, the baby, and a brother (younger than Reagon) are buried in the old Melrose cemetery just North of Melrose. Her father Lafayette P. Barnhill had a mercantile store in Melrose. The older Barnhill children came to Melrose in a wagon. Lafayette P, Letha, and the younger children rode the train. Lafayette W. (my grandfather) was with the older kids in the wagon. He picked up a stray dog and they all got fleas before they made it to NM! Nova's husband left NM shortly after her death. [1]
