Biography
John was born in 1863.[1] He was the son of Thomas Barns and Catherine Martin. He passed away in 1956.[2] He is buried in the Toowong Cemetery, Queensland.[3]
In 1892 John married Mary Jane O'Brien.[4] They had 11 children.

Birth date is Implied from Find A Grave inscription. It is inconsistent with military attestation form which is unreliable as being overstated at time of enlistment.
Birth location on Military Attestation is inconsistent with the Find A Grave record. Sourcing is required to particularise.
Rob Barnes received a copy of the Birth Entry for John Edward on 25 Jan 2022. Based on the fact that the family surname is spelled Barns on this entry the "Last Name at Birth" field for this profile was set to Barns. The family has adopted the spelling of Barnes by the late 1800s, most likely after emigrating to Australia. Address at birth is 27 Lower Tebbutt Street, a Tebbutt Street still exists today in Manchester.
