Margaret Barnes was a daughter of Bartholomew Barnes of Widdford, Hertfordshire. She was baptised on 30 July 1579 at St Mary le Bow, London. [1]
Margaret Barnes was licenced to marry on 27 May, 1598. "Maurice Abbott of St. Michael, Bassishaw, draper, aged 30 or more, a widower about eight months past, and Margaret Barnes, maiden, of Widdford, co. Herts, daughter of Bartholomew Barnes, of same, gent., and with his consent, age about 18 — at Widford Church, where she dwells." [2] [3]
The marriage had children: Sons - Bartholomew, Maurice (1), George, Maurice (2), Edward; and daughters - Margaret (m. Marsh), Elizabeth (m. Tresham), Anne, Mary (m. Digges), Martha. [4]
Lady Abbott died on 5 September 1630 and was formally interred at St Stephen Coleman Street on 23 September, [5] [4] after first being buried at Croydon St John, Surrey. [6]
