James Kerr Barr[1] was born on January 3, 1894, in Virginia, his father, William, was 37 and his mother, Ida, was 26. He married Anna Elizabeth Williams on September 11, 1917[2], in Harvard, Massachusetts. He died on September 27, 1976[3], in Charlottesville, Virginia, at the age of 82, and was buried in Albemarle, Virginia[4].
Following the link in George's email, BFS and Emma had another daughter, Jane Stuart who married Robert Patton. The story goes that it is this daughter who was our grandfather's favorite aunt; hence the reason he named his daughter after her.
James, known as Jim, Jimmy, or Pappy, was a farmer in Albemarle County, Virginia. Jeanette, known as Jane, lived in the farm next to Pappy, when she wasn't in residence in NYC on 5th Avenue, Jane Derby Designs, a famous dress designer. Stringfellow was known as Winky, former President of St. John's in Annapolis, Maryland and co-creator of the Great Books course of study.
