Johnnie Milton Barr Jr was born 29 July 1952 in Staunton, Virginia, USA. He was the son of Johnnie Milton Barr and Neva Elizabeth Stroop.

In the mid 1970s, Johnnie Milton Barr Jr (22) married P T Harner (20s) in Augusta County, Virginia. Mr Barr was born 29 Jul 1952 in Virginia, white, single, finished four years of high school, resided in Mount Sidney, Augusta County, and the son of Johnnie M and Neva Stroop Barr. Ms Harner was born in Virginia, white, single, finished four years of college, resided in Fort Defiance, Augusta County, and the daughter of Owen E and Anna Garber Harner. They were married by Howard C Smith, minister of the United Methodist church. ^[2]

In the late 1970s, his sister T G Barr (20s) married B M Shifflett (20s) in Augusta County. Mr Shifflett was born in Virginia, white, single, high school graduate, resided on Route 1 in Grottoes, Augusta County, and the son of Charlie Shifflett and Ada Mae Winegard. Ms Barr was born in Virginia, white, single, high school graduate, resided in Verona, Augusta County, and the daughter of Johnnie Milton Barr and Neva Elizabeth Stroop. They were married by a United Methodist minister. ^[1]

2010s

On 17 Apr 2010, his mother Neva Barr (86) died at Augusta Heath hospital in Fishersville. She was buried at Naked Creek Cemetery in Augusta. ^{[3] [4] [5]}

On 22 Nov 2014, Johnnie Milton Barr Jr (62) died in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was buried at Oak Lawn Cemetery in New Hope, Augusta County. ^[6]

STAUNTON – Johnnie Milton Barr, Jr. 62, husband of Teresa (Harner) Barr, of 260 Eakle Road, passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.

Mr. Barr was born July 29, 1952 in Staunton, a son of Johnnie Milton Barr, Sr. and the late Neva Elizabeth (Stroop) Barr.

Johnnie was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and attended New Hope United Methodist Church. He was a certified business coach with Action Coach, was a member of the Augusta Chamber of Commerce, Augusta Home Builders Association, B.N.I., and numerous other organizations in the surrounding area. He was a 1970 graduate of Fort Defiance High School, and a 1974 graduate of the University of Virginia with a Bachelor degree in Mathematics. He enjoyed golf and was an avid UVA sports fan.

In addition to his wife of 40 years and his father, survivors include two daughters, Sarah Lindsey Barr of Richmond and Amanda Kathleen Barr at home; a sister, Teresa Gail “Terri” Shifflett and husband, Barry, of New Hope; his father and mother-in-law, Owen and Dolly Harner of Staunton; his dogs, Buster and Honey; and many other loving family members.

A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014 at New Hope United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. Tom Murphy.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of his arrangements.

Barr VERONA Neva Elizabeth (Stroop) Barr, 86, wife of Johnnie M. Barr Sr of 54 Memorial St., passed away Friday evening, April 16, 2010, in Augusta Health in Fishersville. Mrs. Barr was born in Rockingham County on Oct. 26, 1923, a daughter of the late Willie and Maggie Ellen (Good) Stroop. Mrs. Barr was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Burketown, where she was a member of the church choir and various Women of the Church groups. Prior to retiring, Mrs. Barr worked as a seamstress for Shenandoah Tailors and also worked in the school cafeteria for area Augusta County Schools. During World War II, she was employed at DuPont while her husband was defending our country. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barr was preceded in death by six brothers, Carson, Emmett, Floyd, Gilbert, Garnett and Roy Stroop, and a sister, Mrs. Dolly Kaump. Surviving, in addition to her husband, whom she married on Feb. 26, 1944, are a son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie M. Barr Jr. and his wife, Teresa H., of Barren Ridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Gail "Terri" Shifflett and her husband, Barry M., of New Hope; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy S. Roller and her husband, O. Beverly, of Weyers Cave; four grandchildren, Sarah Lindsey Barr, Amanda Kathleen Barr, Lisa (Shifflett) Cox and her husband, Eric, and Brian M. Shifflett and his fiancee, Kelly Bottenfield, and numerous nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Tom Thacker, Mark Dunsmore, Eddie Lynn, Sidney Moyer, Jim Shreckrise and Louis Marshall. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2010, in the Coffman Funeral Home & Crematory or at other times at the residence. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010, in Bethan United Methodist Church by the Rev. Brad McMullen. Burial will be private in the Naked Creek Cemetery in Burketown.
