Based upon her age of 76 years at her death in 1845, she was born in the year 1769.[1] That said, exact age numbers recorded in this way are not always reliable. It is very possible that she was born a couple of years earlier, thus was the daughter of Sarah Haskell and not Mary Smith. This is yet to be determined. Further, she was said to have been "part American Indian" and "of Washington, MA."[2]

She married Abiathar Richmond in Washington, MA on 3 May 1787[3]

They had five children after Abiathar's service in the war:[2]

  1. Olive, born Feb. 17, 1792; married Jacob Sikes.
  2. Sarah, born April 15, 1794; married, 1st, Elijah Ensign ; 2d, Loren Clark.
  3. Eliza, born April 15, 1795 ; married Isaac Thomas
  4. Hannah, born May 24, 1797 ; married Ira Ives.
  5. Abiathar, born April 14, 1 800 ; married Electa Clark.

She was living in Pittsfield, MA in 1800[4] and lived there until her death in 1845.

She began receiving twice yearly $33 pension benefits on 4 Mar 1836 until her death.[5]

Jemima died of lung fever on 2 Aug 1845 in Pittsfield, MA.[6][7][8]

Her estate was probated on 2 Sep 1845[9]

"Book 60, page 246 Registry of Deeds, Berkshire County, Mass. SOLOMAN BARRETT et al, ISAAC BARRETT Know all men by these presents that we Solomon Barrett, Jonathan Barrett, David Barrett, Jemima Richmond, Elizabeth Barrett, Sara Barrett, Senior, all of Pittsfield in the County of Berkshire ..."

Snippet of a family tree showing Jemima Barrett born ca 1769 and dying on 2 Aug 1845. Her father is listed as Jonathan Barrett who died ca 1808 in Pittsfield and whose wife is Sarah. A child of Jemima's is listed as being born in Pittsfield, MA and dying there on 1 Oct 1859. That child is shown to have married on 18 Feb 1813 in Canaan, NY. This latter matches Olive Richmond which supports other documentation that is listed here.

It is not certain that the Jonathan that is listed as grandfather is the same Jonathon that is listed in the snippet. The one currently connected to Olive on wikitree seems to have born and married in Killingly, CT with Sarah Haskell as his first wife and possible second wife Mary Smith. There is no mention of a connection to Olive's mother, Jemima, in any sources listing the Killingly Jonathan. There is therefore a good chance that Olive's grandfather Jonathon was born in Pittsfield and died there - and not in NY as the Killingly Jonathon did.

Did her son Abiathar, born April 14, 1 800 , marry Electa Ann (Barrett) Clark (1847 - 1901)?
