Biography

Esther Barrett was born in 1874 in Aldringham, a village near the Suffolk coast. ^[1] Her birth was registered in the September quarter in the district of Blything in Suffolk. ^[2]

There is no record of the middle name 'Harling' on the birth registration, although her mother's maiden name is confirmed as Partridge. She was the daughter of James Harling Barrett & Emma (Partridge) Barrett. ^[1] In 1881 the family was living in Kelsale, about 5 miles NE of Adlringham.

Esther emigrated to Australia with her parents and siblings on the Hohenstaufen in 1887.^[3]

Esther married Albert Edward Finch. She lived for many years in Corangamite electoral division of Victoria and used the middle name Harling. Esther Harling (Barrett) Finch age 79 passed away in 1953 at Ararat, Victoria, Australia. ^[4]
