She met Samuel Dana when she came to Groton, MA to visit relatives.
They were married when she was 18 years and her husband thirty.
"He escorted his bride to the house he had built in Groton, between the Academy and the parish meeting-house. Located on the Commmon, near the brow of the hill, with ample gardens, it was perhaps the most attractive residence in town." p 8 Memoir of Hon. Samuel Dana by James Dana.
In this same Memoir the author quotes a friend who knew Rebecca: "Mrs. Dana was tall, finely formed, and singularly graceful in her movements. Her complexion was fair, with a fine color; her long and abundant hair black, or nearly so; her eyes of violet-blue, with long, dark lashes, - causing them, in some lights, to appear black, and giving to the whole countenance that appearance of gentleness and sensibility which forms the most touching kind of beauty."
Both Samuel and Rebecca are buried in the Old Burying Ground, Groton, MA.
Her inscription states she died at the age of 54.
Rebecca is buried with her husband and children in the Old Burying Ground in Groton, Massachusetts. (Green)
